The 2G network

We have a comprehensive network of towers

Our network comprises 2/2.5G and 3/3.5G over several frequencies allowing more customers, with different devices, to join the Vodafone family

How 2G and 3G devices work

Most 3G devices are backwards compatible with the 2G network. This means that if a consistent 3G signal is not present, your device will revert back to 2G so that you can still make calls and send PXT®/TXT messages without interruption.

If you are not sure if your device is 3G compatible, consult your user manual or the manufacturer’s website.

Important information

  • While most 3G devices support the 2G network, 2G devices do not support the 3G network
  • While you can still use data services on the 2G network, download speeds will be reduced
  • Check the list of Vodafone approved mobile devices to ensure your device is suitable for our network
