Accessing the National Relay Service with Pocket WiFi

Change your DNS settings to use the National Relay Service

If you’re using a Pocket WiFi on the Vodafone network but can’t access the National Relay Service, changing your computer’s network settings to use our DNS server might fix the problem.

Instructions

Windows XP

Step 1

Open the Start Menu and select 'Control Panel'.

  • If you’re in category view, select 'Network and Internet Connections', then 'Network Connections'.
  • If you’re in classic view, just select 'Network Connections'.

Step 3

Right click your 'Wireless Network Connection' and select 'Properties'.

Step 4

Highlight 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' with a single left button click, then select 'Properties’.TCP/IP

Step 5

Select 'Use the following DNS server addresses' and type in the following:

  • Preferred DNS server: 10.143.147.147
  • Alternate DNS server: 10.143.147.148

Step 6

Click 'OK'.

You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Windows Vista, 7 and 8

Step 1

  • Windows Vista and 7: Open the Start Menu and select 'Control Panel'.
  • Windows 8: Move your mouse to the bottom right-hand corner of your screen, select the cog icon for ‘Settings’ and then select ‘Control Panel’.

  • If you’re in category view, select 'Network and Internet' and then 'Network and Sharing Centre'.
  • If you’re in large/small icons view, just select 'Network and Sharing Center'.

  • Windows 7 and 8: Select 'Change Adapter Settings' from the left hand panel.
  • Windows Vista: Select 'Manage Network Connections'.

Right click 'Wireless Network Connection' and select 'Properties'.

Highlight 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)’ with a single left button click, then select 'Properties’.

Select 'Use the following DNS server addresses' and type in the following:

  • Preferred DNS server: 10.143.147.147
  • Alternate DNS server: 10.143.147.148

Click 'OK'.

You may need to restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Mac OSX

Step 1

Open the Apple Menu and select 'System Preferences'.

Select 'Network'.

Select 'Wi-Fi' or 'Airport' on the left hand side and then click 'Advanced'.

Select the 'DNS' tab, then:

  • Click the '+' in the bottom left corner and type in 10.143.147.147
  • Click the '+' once more, and type in 10.143.147.148

Click 'OK' and then 'Apply'.

You may need to restart your computer for these changes to take effect.
