Fix your Pocket WiFi to 3G or 4G only

If you’re experiencing poor performance from your Pocket WiFi and notice that it constantly jumps between 2G, 3G or 4G, changing the network preference may fix the issue.

How it works

  • If the signal is low, your Pocket WiFi may automatically switch between 3G and 2G or 4G and 3G to maintain a more consistent signal. This doesn’t always result in the best speeds or performance
  • If you’re noticing this automatic switching is causing performance issues, you can change the Pocket WiFi’s network preferences through the online dashboard so it connects to '4G only' or '3G only'. You can also select ‘2G/GPRS only’ but this will offer slower speeds than 3G or 4G
  • If you’ve got the Pocket WiFi Pro, Extreme or 4G, see below for instructions. If you’re using the original Pocket WiFi or Pocket WiFi 2, click here.
