Manually configuring your email

Probably the easiest way to set up your email is to use our mobile configurator

If your phone isn't listed in the configurator, but you’re using a popular email service like Gmail, most smartphones are often clever enough to set up everything with just your email address and password.

Sometimes setting your email up isn’t so simple though. If you need to manually enter the settings from your email provider, or what you've tried so far hasn't worked, here's some tips on what you'll need.

How to do it

Get email settings

Check your email provider’s website or contact them directly to get the settings you'll need to send and receive email.

Open your email app

Find the email app in your phone, open it and choose the option to add a new email account.

Enter email settings

Enter the settings from your email provider.

If you're receiving email but are not able to send, check with the email provider to troubleshoot the issue. If it can't be resolved (some providers won't allow access to their outgoing mail server from outside their own network), you can use our outgoing mail server:

SMTP:smtp.vodafone.net.au
Server port:25
Security type/use SSL:No / switch off
Require authentication:No / switch off
Username:Must be blank
Password:Must be blank

Note:  You won't be able to send emails with our outgoing mail server if your phone is connected through Wi-Fi to another internet provider

If your phone doesn’t ask for all of the settings, don’t worry, not all of them are needed for some phones. Here’s how it looks on Android and iPhone for example:

Save settings

Once the settings are entered, press 'save', 'next' or 'done' to start using email.
