Back up SIM contacts

Avoid losing your numbers

If you've been using your SIM to store contacts, remember to back them up before switching SIMs so that they'll be accessible on your new phone or SIM. Once the swap is complete, you won't be able to access contacts stored on your old SIM.

Here are your options

  • Back up to phone memory
Copy your contacts across to your phone memory before changing SIMs and they'll be available no matter which SIM is in the phone. Select your phone and search for "contacts" in our interactive user guide for instructions.
  • Back up to your computer or the cloud
Back up or sync your contacts to your computer or online storage (such as Google, Skydrive or iCloud). You'll be able to copy them back if you ever need to change your SIM or phone in the future. Select your phone and search for "contacts" in our interactive user guide for instructions.
  • In-store
Come in store and we’ll take care of it for you.

Note: If you've damaged your old SIM or already had a SIM swap done, you might not be able to access the contact entries on your old SIM.

There could be a better way

  • Rather than using your SIM to store you contacts, consider using your phone memory, or backing up to your computer or the cloud.  There's more memory for contacts, you're able to add more information for each contact, and they're generally kept up to date with regular automatic syncing.
